What is Pediatric Ophthalmology?
Pediatric ophthalmology is a field of eye care that focuses on the specific visual needs and structures of infants, children, and teenagers. Because a child’s visual system is still growing, issues that are ignored during childhood can lead to permanent vision loss in adulthood. Our center offers a child-friendly environment equipped with specialized tools that diagnose and treat developing eyes comfortably.
Advanced Technology: The Pediatric Vision Advantage
We are proud to be the first center in the state to introduce the VTS 4, a sophisticated computer-based technology for treating Amblyopia (Lazy Eye). This system uses interactive, high-definition visual tasks to stimulate the brain's neuroplasticity, retraining it to process images from the weaker eye.
Our specialized orthoptic wing uses the Synaptophore to diagnose and treat imbalances in the extraocular muscles. This instrument allows our experts to measure the angle of a squint with high precision and provide guided exercises that improve the "fusion" of images from both eyes.
For infants born with cataracts, every day is crucial to prevent permanent "blindness of disuse." We use specialized sub-2.2mm micro-incision techniques designed for the softer tissues of an infant’s eye.
Diagnosing vision power in a crying or non-cooperative child can be challenging. Our center uses advanced handheld automated refractometers that can measure a child's eye power from a distance in seconds.

Based on the diagnosis, your child may undergo specialized vision therapy sessions or a precise surgical procedure in our clean, NABH-certified OT.

What is Squint (Strabismus) Treatment?
A squint is more than just a cosmetic issue; it is a serious functional problem where the eyes do not align properly, often resulting in loss of depth perception and binocular vision. At Ranade Eye Centre, we provide thorough management for strabismus, evaluating whether the misalignment is due to muscle imbalance, nerve problems, or refractive errors. Our goal is to restore proper eye alignment and ensure both eyes work together effectively.
